According to statistics during the last ten years the number of twins increased twice. From the hundred of pregnant women nearly two have twins. In the beginning of 80-s this number was almost twice lower. Only one woman of the hundred could give birth to twins. This is explained by the change of female hormone background. Besides, if woman can't get pregnant in natural way, she may turn to doctor for help that will treat her from sterility. She is treated by different methods in the result of which several ovules get ready for fertilization. And during such treatment in ¾ of all cases woman gives birth to twins.

However it is impossible to predict or to plan the pregnancy with twins. But the possibility of their birth is very high in the families in which there were cases when twins were born several years ago. Moreover, scientists noticed that women usually get pregnant with twins during the summer period.

Usually doctors notice the development of two embryos after 3-4 weeks of pregnancy. But in 6-7 weeks it is already possible to see two embryos with the help of ultrasound.

Unfortunately the additional medical care is necessary during the pregnancy with twins. This kind of pregnancy is in the group of risk for both the mother and the child. The woman pregnant with twins will have to have more visits to doctors.

Because of the additional load on the organism of a woman, she will need the support of her family. It is recommended to have rest in a recumbent position not less than 2-3 hours a day. Probably the woman pregnant with twins will have to take the maternity leave earlier.
